Late tonight, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said in a statement that Nurul Izzah was arrested under the Sedition Act to assist police into the investigation of the Kita Lawan rally “and for making contemptuous remarks that those in the judiciary had sold their souls to the devil”.

“She will be released once her statement has been recorded,” Khalid said, but did not reveal when this could be expected.

Nurul Izzah was arrested for a speech by her father and jailed Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, which she read out in Parliament

The list of people locked up for expressing an opinion in Malaysia gets longer by the day.

Now even the fundamental legal principle of the parliamentary privilege of the people’s elected representatives has been violated by the little Napoleons in the police force, who probably have zero understanding of that concept, but who do know that ‘BB’ (Big Boss/ PM/ FM) is currently mighty cross and exercised over being shown up at every turn.

Meanwhile, in Sabah people are being thrown in jail for suggesting that their lives may not have improved under the aegis of Malaysia’s ‘perfect democracy’ and they would prefer to be independent of it like they were before.

Now that definitely smacks of a personal opinion, which cannot be allowed when you have a perfect Prime Minister to tell us all what to think and say.

Presumably, police officers also consider it to be ‘illegal and seditious’ to openly suggest that Jho Low might have had a role in the disposal of the billions that have gone missing in 1MDB?

After all BB just said he didn’t.  So what right has anyone in this perfect democracy to disagree?
