Douglas Uggah, a Minister in the Sarawak State government, is reported as saying that this vast amount of land will be “set aside” for the “development of food crops”.
He failed to say where the land is situated or to whom it belongs. Observers of Sarawak will know that the criminal BN regime has stolen vast amounts of “native customary rights” land from its rightful owners. How much of this “two million hectares” will come from these illegal seizures and how much from forest reserves?
Does the criminal Sarawak regime intend to turn useless palm oil land over from that saturated crop into food areas? If so, how will the costs of such farming be met? Who will take the profits, if any? And why should major agriculture enterprises receive state support if they need to change cash crops?
We all know that the costs and likely losses will be passed on to the Sarawak people, so details should be forthcoming for such grand plans promising big expenses.
